Taylor Swift, the rarest pop phenomenon is a star who has managed to cross from the country genre to mainstream pop culture, becoming an idol of the world of pop. She also conquered every continent during the course of her journey. Swift dropped country as if it was a second layer and proved that she is perhaps the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. One who can harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal, and sing in the other direction. This was evident in her early songs, particularly with regard to the neo tribute towards Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to know herself. The album was hugely successful not just in America, where six of its singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around the globe. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this success. It propelled Swift to superstardom. In the three albums following (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012, 1989 2014 and Reputation 2017 -- Swift's fame only grew. This was a sure sign she had moved to the new music scene that she could be part of. Even when she scaled back her approach with 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the pop world a position that she maintained through re-recordings from her back catalog along with Midnights her chart-topping synth-heavy 2022 collection.
