Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his home with volunteering in the community. First, his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home the national title twice. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. After graduating Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times, he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
